Dr Daniel Novakovic- FRACS (OHNS), MPH, MBBS, BSc
Has an Interest in Voice, Airway and Swallowing Problems in Adults and Children. Multidisciplinary Voice Clinic. Care of Professional Voice.
Dr Novakovic Completed Medical School (University of Sydney) and Otolaryngology Training in Australia. He then undertook 2.5 years of postgraduate training in Head and Neck Surgery and Laryngology / Care of the Professional Voice at leading international centres of excellence (University of Toronto and the New York Centre for Voice and Swallowing Disorders) before returning to Australia where he established a clinic to deliver services in Otolaryngology and his fields to an international standard.
During his time in North America, Daniel received training from world leaders in the fields of Laryngology and Neurolaryngology dealing with complex voice issues. He gained experience in professional voice care working under the Medical director of the New York Metropolitan Opera and gained wide exposure to Broadway performers with voice and throat disorders.
Daniel is appointed as Associate Professor, Central Clinical School, University of Sydney Faculty of Medicine and Health. He acts as director of the Doctor Liang Voice program at University of Sydney and helped to establish this program for education, research and training in the field of laryngeal, and voice disorders.
Dr Novakovic has published widely in peer reviewed journals and has authored many textbook chapters as an invited expert in his field. He is actively involved in teaching at a local, national and international level and is a regular invited speaker at international conferences. He has active research interests in laryngology including the impact of HPV vaccination on laryngeal papillomatosis, wound healing after surgery and patient reported outcomes-based research. He is the current Vice President of the Laryngology Society of Australasia and former board member of the Australian Voice Association.
Dr Novakovic has clinical rooms at St Leonards and Drummoyne with an interest in disorders of voice, airway (breathing) and swallowing in adults and children. He also takes care of general Otolaryngology problems. He runs a number of multidisciplinary voice and swallow clinics in conjunction with senior speech pathologists to deliver unique comprehensive care at an international standard including the University of Sydney Voice Clinic. An emergency after-hours service for vocal performers is available by special arrangement.
In his spare time Daniel enjoys spending time with his wife and 4 children, skiing, kayaking and fishing.
