Sleep Studies Unit General Information

The Sleep Unit is dedicated to paediatric sleep studies and has been purpose designed just for our paediatric clientele. We have the most advanced Compumedics paediatric equipment in New South Wales. This includes High definition video, Infrared monitoring, audio and transcutaneous CO2 monitoring.

The unit conduct studies Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights 6:30 pm – 6:30 am for children aged 6 months – 18 years. One parent / carer is required to stay with the child during the study. An evening meal will be provided for both and a cold breakfast is available prior to discharge if required. Other amenities available are tea & coffee facilities, local telephone calls, Foxtel and free Wi-Fi.

Our Paediatric Sleep Specialist – Dr Julian Wojtulewicz FRACP

Dr Wojtulewicz has strong experience in neonatal medicine and neuro-development issues. He is an accredited paediatric sleep physician with a clinical interest in sleep breathing disorders and restless legs syndrome. He has been integral in setting up the Paediatric Sleep Studies Unit at Hunters Hill Private. He also has been affiliated with the sleep units at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick and John Hunter Paediatric Hospital in Newcastle.

Billing information about Sleep Studies

There are modest out-of-pocket fees associated with consultations. The sleep study itself is covered by the Medicare rebate and does not incur a “gap” fee. Many private health insurance policies will cover the bed fee associated with sleep studies. Estimates can be provided for self-funded patients who do not have health fund coverage by contacting the hospital directly.
